Garden Sculpture Sessions at Waavy Studio

2-Week Workshop

When: Saturdays, November 4th & 11th

Time: 3pm - 6pm

Get ready to learn and create in a warm and welcoming at Deb's backyard, go home with a new skill and possibly even new friends!

Our intention for this workshop is to teach students the basics of figure sculpting with a live model in a fun & comfortable creative space.

Allowing everyone to feel supported while learning something. We want to give everyone the tools to be able to learn how to properly sculpt the human body & send them off to continue practicing their sculpting skills on their own or with further practice at Waavy Studio & Raw figs in the future!

Workshop Break Down:

November 4th - Day 1

3 pm - 3:15 pm:

Introduce the workshop, share details on the focus of the class & do a student icebreaker (I like to do an icebreaker to help get everyone more comfortable! Maybe the students can share their names, pronouns, and their favorite artist)

3:15 pm - 3:45 pm:

Explain the human body in relation to figure sculpting, talk about the different sculpting techniques/tools & do a demo on how to sculpt the human body step-by-step. Answer any questions that the students may have

3:30 pm - 5:50 pm

Students begin sculpting the model out of clay

5:50 pm - 6 pm

Wrap up everyone’s pieces in plastic, leave students with book recommendations & different sculpting videos/media for them to study during the week.

November 11th - Day 2

3 pm - 3:15 pm:

Student Icebreaker: ask each student how they felt after the first sculpting session & what they think went well/what didn’t work for them. Answer any additional questions students may have about their pieces.

3:15 pm - 3:45 pm:

Get into finishing the first form

3:30 pm - 5:50 pm

If anyone wants to begin a second sculpture, they would do so at this point

5:50 pm - 6 pm

Wrap up session explaining next step: glazing & picking up fired pieces. Pieces will be ready in 2 weeks after the workshop for glazing or strictly pick up.

What to Expect with ticket:

• Base your sculpture off of 1 half nude model
• 3 hour sessions
• 2 lbs of clay
• Piece will be fired up (Please Note: Pieces cannot be larger than 12 inches in order to fit into the kiln.)
• This is a home studio with ivy all over the front.
• This workshop will be outside in the garden.
• Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Aprons are available if needed.
• Feel free to bring your own food and drinks.

This is a workshop not an event, so please NO PHOTOS until models are no longer posing. 

MUST BE 18 or older.
